I have to say I will never move on from Blue Badge. My insurance had just expired but I didn’t realise it till they called me I spoke to a gorgeous lady by the name of Jenny who took down my financial issues right now and called me later stating they had found another cover with the same coverage as before but managed to make it cheaper for me. While wheelchair insurance in Australia is not compulsory, most authorities strongly advise that people take out insurance to protect their personal safety, the safety of others, the value of their wheelchair and cover themselves against the significant out-of-pocket costs associated with legal liability.

It depends on your policy – not all Home and Contents policies cover equipment like wheelchairs. It’s also important to remember that Home and Contents policies may not cover your wheelchair when it’s used outside of your home, leaving you exposed while you’re out and about.

No. Our policy covers accidental damage, theft and legal liability to protect you and your wheelchair if you’re involved in an incident that causes damage to your wheelchair or if it’s stolen. We also protect you against damages and legal costs if you’re involved in an incident with a third party. The policy does not cover break downs or general wear and tear.

Unfortunately wheelchair theft is on the rise. Kids like to take them on joyrides and thieves have realised the value of this equipment and are now targeting wheelchairs for resale. 

This is why we’ve worked with a leading lock manufacturer to develop the Loop Lock – an easy to use lock that will provide greater protection for your mobility equipment when you’re out and about. Find out more here. 

Many of our customers have been able to claim back all or a portion of their insurance premium from various funding bodies, including the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). While such approvals are assessed on a case-by-case basis (it’s not guaranteed), we will assist you however we can to facilitate funding of the insurance costs.

Yes. Our wheelchair insurance policy automatically covers your wheelchair for accidental damage and third party liability for the first 21 days of overseas travel (third party liability is excluded in USA and Canada). You can extend the period of cover for an additional fee if you’re going away for a longer period, by calling us on 1300 304 802.

If you need to make a wheelchair insurance claim, we recommend you call us as soon as possible on 1300 304 802. Our friendly staff will ask you for the full details of the incident and will help manage your claim until it’s been settled.

Yes, monthly instalments are available through a direct debit with Blue Badge Insurance. There’s a small additional fee involved with using this payment method**.
